when does a "schtasks.exe /SC ONLOGON" task actually run?
Hi! What can such a task rely on? Does it get started before, during or after the logon script? Lots of Greetings! VolkerVolker

According to the Microsoft documentation (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490996.aspx), the task scheduled with the /SC ONLOGON option flag runs whenever a user (any user) logs on. You can specify a date, or run the task the next time the user logs on. There is no further information about the exact moment the task is started, but I can presume that it could be executed (more or less) immediately after the systema has successfully started the services configured to run at the boot. I've read the documentation and, as you have noted, it's not clear in that regard. However, it makes a big difference if, for instance, network drives get mapped, software/patches get installed and environment variables get set during logon. I'm sure someone at Microsoft must know about the scheduler and when it actuelly executes stuff.

Hi, Using Windows Performance Analysis Tools you can detect and trace different types of performance related issues in the operating system. Maybe you could find something useful via this tool to trace the start process.
